Summer can be a fun season, but it can also be tough on your body. Between the high temperatures, extra sunlight, and long nights, we're bound to need a little extra care. Here are 5 tips to help you do just that!
Eating breakfast provides your body with the proper nutritional jumpstart it needs to propel you through your day.
Proper hydration is essential to staying healthy in the summer sun. Our bodies are roughly 70% water and without it, we make ourselves more susceptible to withering away in the summer sun.
Protect Your Skin!
Large hats and sunscreen are necessary when spending extended periods of time out in the sun. Melanin is a natural defensive barrier, but it only does so much. People of color are still susceptible to sun damage and skin cancer, so make sure you properly care for your skin.
Get Some Sleep!
Believe it or not, how many hours of sleep you get isn’t as important as when you’re getting it. Going to bed and waking up at the same time daily stabilizes your circadian rhythm. Developing and maintaining your sleep schedule is like resetting your internal clock, so shut off the lights and get some rest.
Shield Your Eyes!
Our eyes are so good to us, they allow us to see and enjoy the world around us. Show your eyes some “TLC” this summer and make sure you shield them from the sun’s harmful rays. It’s important to make sure your eyes are not damaged from ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B rays. Wearing sunglasses can also help prevent wrinkling around the eyes, so make sure to cover up.
